As Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) owns up to being Iron Man before the world press, Anton Vanko lies dying in Russia. Years ago, Anton worked with Tony's father to create a new source of energy.
But greed got the best of Anton, and now as he slips away, his son, Ivan (Mickey Rourke), vows to make Tony pay for the sins of his father. Meanwhile, Tony fends off efforts from smarmy Senator Stern (Garry Shandling) and military weapons expert Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) to divulge the secrets of his powerful Iron Man suit. The powers that be are concerned that Tony's technology may fall into the wrong hands -- fears that are soon confirmed when the cocky billionaire entrepreneur is confronted in front of the entire world by Ivan, who has built his own weapon using stolen Stark blueprints. Later, as Lt. Rhodes (Don Cheadle) wrestles with the decision to personally deliver Tony's suit to the military, Ivan finds an unlikely ally in the quest to destroy Iron Man; Stark Industries legal consultant Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson) reveals her connection to Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson); and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) takes on some new responsibilities.

Overall: A far as sequels go, Iron Man 2 is better than most, but it's not everything it could have been, or what most people were hoping for. However there's plenty in to enjoy, and overall Iron Man 2 provides more entertainment, guilt-free, than anything you're likely to see this summer. But based on the first film and many sections of this one, we had reason to expect even more.

Featuring an all-star cast led by Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vargara, Julie Bowen, and Ty Burrell, Modern Family takes a refreshing and funny view of what it means to raise a family in this hectic day and age. Multi-cultural relationships, adoption, and same-sex marriage are just a few of the timely issues faced by the show’s three wildly-diverse broods. No matter the size or shape, family always comes first in this hilariously “modern” look at life, love, and laughter.

Overall: Truly one of the funniest shows on TV right now. This "mockumentary" comedy series was created by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan, people behind Frasier and Just Shoot me and is just as funny as these two. Show consists of great characters, excellent cast and expertly written scripts. This show is funniest on any network. Start with the pilot, you will love it.

This Week On Blu Ray - The Peacemaker from Paramount Home Video.
When a train carrying atomic warheads mysteriously crashes in the former Soviet Union, brilliant U.S. nuclear specialist Dr. Julia Kelly discovers the accident is really part of a diabolical plot to cover up the theft of the weapons. Assigned to help her recover the missing bombs is crack Special Forces Colonel Thomas Devoe, whose brash, take-no-prisoners style clashes with Kelly’s more diplomatic approach. Putting aside their personal differences – and budding romance – the two begin a tumultuous partnership as they track down the stolen weapons, following a deadly trail of espionage and intrigue that culminates in an unauthorized air assault inside Russian territory. Now, it’s a race against time to uncover the last missing warhead...before it’s too late.
Format: AC-3, Color, Dolby, DTS Surround Sound, Dubbed, Subtitled, Widescreen

Number of discs: 1
Rated: R (Restricted)
Studio: Dreamworks Video
DVD Release Date: September 21, 2010
Run Time: 124 minutes
Overall: This is an action thriller and intelligent one at that. Clooney and Kidman are attractive leads whose personalities are designed to provide a subtext of romantic friction. This works very well throughout the film. The Peacemaker, while not highly original, is definetly one of the better action-thrillers to have come out in recent years. I really like the original DVD so this one was a real treat on Blu ray.

This Week on Blu Ray - Glee Season 1 from Fox Home Entertainment
t was a choral rendition of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" that first put Glee on the map, the thrilling end to an intriguing pilot episode that aired after American Idol in May 2009. After the full season began airing that fall, Glee became the most talked about show on TV, a musical-comedy-drama of colorful characters and soaring production numbers. Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) is a teacher at an Ohio high school who decides to coach the glee club (or show choir) that he belonged to when he was a student. The initial members are a ragtag bunch of social outcasts: born-for-Broadway diva Rachel (Leah Michele), big-voiced Mercedes (Amber Riley), wheelchair-bound Artie (Kevin McHale), stuttering goth girl Tina (Jenn Ushkowitz), and closeted gay Kurt (Chris Colfer). But things get interesting when the club starts to prepare for the sectional competition and manages to add some of the school's popular kids: quarterback Finn (Cory Monteith), his bullying teammate Puck (Mark Salling), and cheerleaders Quinn (Dianna Agron), Santana (Naya Rivera), and Brittany (Heather Morris), the final three planted as spies by Schuester's rival, internationally acclaimed cheerleading coach Sue (Jane Lynch). Meanwhile, a triangle develops among Will, his wife (Jessalyn Gilsig), and the school's obsessive-compulsive guidance counselor, Emma (Jayma Mays). Other relationships get tangled, faces are slushied, and Sue plots the club's destruction while tossing out plenty of zingers.

Overall: My wife and I love Glee. First off I am a music addict. I love music of all kinds. Second, I am a 56 year old male who probably breaks the age group geared for this show. Now that the first season is out on Blu-ray, I would encourage those who have heard about the show - who may have caught an episode or two - to start at the beginning and enjoy the Glee experience.

Blu-ray puts you in control! [exclusive to Blu-ray in Combo Pack]
• Deleted scene: The Banquet: Garsiv Presents Heads
DVD Bonus feature:
• An Unseen World: Making Prince Of Persia
Overall: Its always hard to adapt a video game to a movie and as a result A lot of reviewers didn't like this movie, but I thought it was very good. I thought Gyllenhaal did a great job considering he did most of his own stunts & looked very much like the video game character. Plus he brought a lot of wit & charm to the character & there was quite a bit of chemistry between him & Gemma Arterton. This is a fun movie for the whole family...it has action, adventure, comedy, and so much more!!! Love the characters, if you want a fun movie this is exactly what you need!!

Overall, I am a fan of Courtney Cox going back to her days as Monica on Friends, I really like this series, lots of funny lines every week, the writing is is crisp and to the point plus all the charactors seem to work really well together which to me is a clue to how a series will do. I think this one is a winner.

Clash of the Titans
A remake of the 1981 cult classic of the same name, Clash of the Titans follows demi-god Perseus (Sam Worthington) as he seeks revenge against the gods after the death of his family. His quest will see him embark on a grand adventure where he must battle many fantastic and horrifying creatures in order to rescue Princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos) and the doomed city of Argos from the wrath of the gods. That's the story in a nutshell. Many characters from the original film have been jettisoned altogether and plot elements have been shifted around.
The original Clash of the Titans is an example of a movie you liked when it was released , but now it's just not as good as you remembered. It's quite funny, and the special effects – as dated as they were even when it came out – are really the biggest reason why it's still talked about. That said, the acting was pretty bad, with Harry Hamlin as a rather dull Perseus who just has things happen to him. While Worthington's Perseus may not have a terribly complicated or original arc, at least he actually drives the narrative forward, makes his own decisions, and has objectives he wants to achieve rather than simply reacting to the actions of others.
Worthington's Perseus is like a cross between Russell Crowe's Maximus and Jason Statham; he's an intense, scowling loner who speaks in a low and gravelly voice, kicks plenty of ass, and is rather wanting in the humor department. Liam Neeson brings his requisite gravitas to the role of Zeus, although it'd be pretty tough not to dominate the screen when you're as tall as he is and dressed in Excalibur-esque shining armor. He ably conveys the conflicted nature of the king of the gods, who is torn between anger and eternal love for his creations. Ralph Fiennes as Hades is sort of Voldemort Lite, but he must have enjoyed the taste of that Olympian scenery since he sure chews enough of it.
The new Titans definitely emphasizes the "clash" more than its predecessor did, but it's also a lot of sound and fury, and we should all know what that signifies. Despite its technical superiority, I can't imagine this Clash of the Titans inspiring a fan base that will last three decades let alone a desire to remake it one day. If you've already seen the movie and liked it, then you should be pleased with the good video, strong audio presentation, and decent supplemental package that includes a Maximum Movie Mode on this Blu-ray.

Caddyshack [Blu-ray] (1980)
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, 'Caddyshack' is a classic film comedy, packed with memorable scenes and funny lines that still get quoted both on and off golf courses. It's a coming-of-age story about young caddies, but once the talents of Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield (in his first film role), Ted Knight, and Bill Murray were in place and at work, the plot lost its importance. In fact, so did the script, as Ramis encouraged improvisation.
Danny Noonan (Michael O'Keefe) is in need of a scholarship if he wants to go to college rather than work at the local lumberyard. He caddies at Bushwood Country Club and is frequently given advice by Ty Webb (Chevy Chase), son of one of the co-founders and a talented golfer. Noonan tries to get in good with the other co-founder, Judge Smails (Ted Knight), but for every right step he makes, such as suggesting a better lie during a round ("Winter rules") and taking the blame for an accident, he makes decisions that earn Smails' wrath. The oddest move is substituting into a game against Smails with $40,000 riding on it.
Actors: Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight, Michael O'Keefe, Bill Murray
Directors: Harold Ramis
Format: AC-3, Color, Dolby, Dubbed, Original recording remastered, Subtitled, Widescreen
Language: English (DTS-HD High Res Audio), French (Dolby Digital 1.0), Spanish (Dolby Digital 1.0)

Studio: Warner Home Video
DVD Release Date: June 8, 2010
Run Time: 98 minutes
Overall: Of all the great comedy and spoof films of the early 1980's "Caddyshack" is beyond a doubt one of the more memorable flicks of the period that will probably never die with time. Caddyshack features fine performances from Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase, Ted Knight, and of course, the gopher. This motion picture is replete with sight gags and one-liners that to this day are repeated by afficianados of clever satire. Caddyshack is one of those movies that you always go back to whenever you want a good laugh.

Overall: I have read many negative reviews, but I was still curious to see this movie. I am not a huge Burton fan , although I've enjoyed some of his earlier work. You have to hand to Disney; they really are treating this Blu-ray release like a million bucks, all of the actors did a great job. This is a good movie for the whole family. Having said all that if you were a fan of the original, this version will be much different from the animated one...but I still really enjoyed it.

This Week On Blu Ray - The Man with No Name Trilogy
'A Fistful of Dollars' - Clint Eastwood's legendary "Man With No Name" makes his powerful debut in this thrilling, action-packed "new breed of western" from the acclaimed director of The Good, The Bad And The Ugly and For A Few Dollars More. A mysterious gunman has just arrived in San Miguel, a grim, dusty border town where two rival bands of smugglers are terrorizing the impoverished citizens, the stranger soon receives offers of employment from each gang. But his loyalty cannot be bought; he accepts both jobs...and sets in motion a plan to destroy both jobs...and sets in motion a plan to destroy both groups of criminals, pitting one against the other in a series of brilliantly orchestrated set-ups, showdowns and deadly confrontations.
'For a Few Dollars More' - Eastwood is a keen-eyed, quick-witted bounty hunter on the bloody trail of Indio, the territory's most treacherous bandit. But his ruthless rival, Colonel Mortimer, is determined to bring Indio in first...dead or alive! Failing to capture their prey--or eliminate each other--the two are left with only one option: team up, or face certain death at the hands of Indio and his band of murderous outlaws.
'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' - By far the most ambitious, unflinchingly graphic and stylistically influential western ever mounted, The Good The Bad And The Ugly is an engrossing action shot through with a volatile mix of myth and realism. Clint Eastwood returns as the "Man With No Name," this time teaming with two gunslingers to pursue a cache of $20,000-and letting no one, not even warring factions in a civil war, stand in their way.
MGM Home Entertainment / 1964 / 585 Minutes / Rated R
Street Date: June 01, 2010
Overall: I am one of those folks who has these westerns on VHS, DVD and yes now Blu ray. This is a classic western trilogy that's a must buy for those die hard western fans, it's Clint at his finest...it doesn't get any better than this. Ithink the Good, Bad & Ugly is by far the best in the series, the spaghetti western is alive in this 3 pack. The blu ray versions are the best yet, pristine conversions and awesome sound, a great add to any collection.
That's "This Week on Blu Ray".

War of the Worlds [Blu-ray] (2005)
An ordinary man has to protect his children against alien invaders in this science fiction thriller, freely adapted from the classic story by H.G. Wells. Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) is a dockworker living in New Jersey, divorced from his first wife Mary Ann (Miranda Otto) and estranged from his two children Rachel and Robbie (Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin), of whom he has custody on weekends. On one such visitation, looking after the kids becomes a little more difficult when, after a series of strange lighting storms hit his neighborhood, Ray discovers that a fleet of death-ray robotic spaceships have emerged nearby, part of the first wave of an all-out alien invasion of the Earth. Transporting his children from New York to Boston in an attempt to find safety at Mary Ann's parents' house, Ray must learn to become the protector and provider he never was in marriage. Also starring Tim Robbins, War of the Worlds was directed by Steven Spielberg, who had been planning the project for years, but set it aside until a wave of "alien invasion" films (led by Independence Day) had run its course.

Overall: Having seen the original ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, I was hoping for a pretty good action adventure film in ESCAPE FROM L.A. What I got was a big disappointed. Basically, ESCAPE FROM L.A. is a mediocre copy of the first movie. Don't get me wrong. I like corny movies that are meant to look bad. 15 years later after New York. Snake Plisken did it once. He can do it again. Good Action Movie! But not as good as the first.

This Week On Blu ray - Tooth Fairy
The Rock plays Derek Thompson, a washed up hockey player who is the definition of used to be. He's playing in the minor leagues, was once a flashy pro player, but now he relies only on his brute strength to send people careening through the boards. He's earned the nickname The Tooth Fairy, because of all the teeth his hits have extracted from his opponents.
Fairly self-absorbed, Derek doesn't believe in fairy tales. He takes advantage of his girlfriend's family, and one night steals her daughter's tooth fairy money to use in a poker game. When the money is found to be missing, Derek decides it's time to tell the young girl that there is indeed no tooth fairy.
In the irony of ironies, which is really, really what the writers want you to believe anyway, this wayward hockey player nicknamed The Tooth Fairy is actually sentenced by the magical court of make believe (or something like that) to be an actual tooth fairy for the space of a few weeks. Being a tooth fairy is a hard job, and if you're found badmouthing it, Julie Andrews will appear (complete with wings) and sentence you to hard tooth-gathering labor.

This week on Blu Ray - K-19
Inspired by a true story that was kept secret until the fall of communism, K-19: THE WIDOWMAKER is a tale of ordinary men who sacrifice everything for their shipmates and their country. In 1961, at the height of the Cold War, an ill-prepared Russian nuclear missile submarine embarks on its maiden voyage with near-disastrous consequences. When the sub's nuclear reactor malfunctions, Captain Alexei Vostrikov (Harrison Ford) makes some decisions that are unpopular with the crew. Tensions mount as radiation levels rise throughout the submarine and there is no respite in sight. If the sub explodes, it may cause an international incident as it may be mistaken as an attack on a nearby NATO base and an American Navy destroyer that is in the area. If the sub dives deep below the surface, perhaps the malfunction can be fixed, but the loss of some lives is then inevitable. The Executive Officer, Mikhail Polenin (Liam Neeson), who formerly commanded the sub, can placate the crew, but must decide where his own loyalties lie. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow (BLUE STEEL, POINT BREAK), this thriller examines the Cold War from the Russian perspective.

Overall: Harrison Ford gives one of the better performances of his career. Liam Neeson also did a very good acting job in this movie. It was completely believable as a story, which can sometimes be difficult when basing a movie on true events. A good submarine movie with plentiful action to keep the story moving, if, that is, you can move beyond the pathetic accents.

Overall: Many have complained that Armageddon has many mistakes and scientific inaccuracies but that's really unavoidable considering the movie's far-fetched scenario. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. This was a very fun and entertaining movie. The cast did a great job! It was action packed and suspenseful. Special effects and sound effects were out of this world.

Overall: I liked the whole idea of reinventing Sherlock Holmes for the modern audience. I thought the movie was well done. I liked the recreation of late 1800's England. I also liked the banter between Holmes and Watson. The casting choices worked well. The detail of the Blu-ray transfer is amazing for most of the movie. I love action movies - so I enjoyed the action.
That's this week on Blu Ray
